Lead Systems Administration (Networking)

Location: Maitland, Florida

 

Position Overview:

 

As the Lead Systems Administration, the incumbent will be responsible for performing Network Administration duties for networking hardware including routers, switches, hubs, gateways, access points, network interface cards, networking cables, firewalls and other related network hardware. Also shares responsibility for Telephony and Network operations, supporting the Business Applications.

 

Essential Job Functions for a Lead Systems Administration:

 

  • Participates in establishing network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
  • Maintains the network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; participates in defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
  • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  • Upgrades network by conferring with management; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Participates in the design, configuration, and maintenance of Cisco solutions with EIGRP, BGP, iWAN, DMVPN, and IPSEC technologies.
  • Support, configure, and maintain Firewall technologies and policies.
  • Support deploying voice services, data and video services, and messaging services such as voice mail, Unified Messaging, email and Instant Messaging.
  • Support the design, implementation and operation of Cisco Network infrastructure both logically and physically.
  • Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, internet access, office systems, applications and customer support).
  • Provides second level support for customer submitted support requests; rotational on-call afterhours support as needed.
  • Rolls out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
  • Plans, implements, and supports the network and computing infrastructure plan.
  • Administration and maintenance of existing IT infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Assist in identifying and improving the reliability, security, effectiveness, in the IT environment.
  • Contribute to problem resolution by giving hands-on support to resolve IT operational issues.
  • Possess effective and professional work ethics and habits.
  • Responsible for project deliverables, on-time and meeting requirements and quality expectations
  • Availability for on-call 24/7 support

Requirements of a Lead Systems Administration:

 

  • Current Cisco CCNA Certification preferred.
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science.
  • 4+ years equivalent work experience as a Network Administrator working with Cisco Networking and Windows-based Servers
  • Possess effective and professional work ethics and habits.
  • Responsible for project deliverables, on-time and meeting requirements and quality expectations
  • Quality-oriented team player who desires a challenging role with a growing, fast-paced company
  • Strong written and oral communication and relationship skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

  • Knowledge of Fortigate firewalls

 

Desired Qualities of a Lead Systems Administration:

 

  • Familiarity with Mitel phone systems
  • Load Balancer experience
  • Storage Area Network (SAN) background.
  • Windows Server and Active Directory Management skills.
