Team Digital Risk ruled the road last Sunday at American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure bicycle ride! Although team members had to pedal through high winds and road obstacles (ducks crossing the street), our D-Risker riders powered through, completing 10, 25, 50, 70 and 100 mile journeys!
And their journey didn’t just start on Sunday. In fact, Digital Risk committed to supporting the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure three years ago, and the company has continuously increased its level of support each year since then. This year, Digital Risk employees helped to reach the No. 4 top corporate contributor and No. 5 top club/organization contributor of the 2014 Orlando Tour de Cure, donating over $15,000+ to American Diabetes Association! Click here to see the running tally. Team Captains Mary Buczkowski, Cash Management Manager, and Luis Cordero, Staff Accountant, and the rest of Team Digital Risk organized multiple company wide events from a prize giveaway, special breakfast fundraiser and even a concert, “Rockin’ the Cure”, featuring performances by Digital Risk’s very own Breaking LUSY!
“This year’s event was successful due to contributions of many. We could not have done this without them and are grateful to be a part of it,” Mary said. Key supporters of the cause include the team’s planning committee, including Staff Accountant Andrew Buck, Quality Assurance Specialist Nilsa Medina, Internal Communications Coordinator Katherine Gil, Internal Communications Supervisor Ryan Donelson, Sr. Manager of Procurement Lisa Lee, Manager of Procurement Anthony McCall, Corporate Security Victor Roddy, Luis and Mary.
“We are very grateful to our executive teams for their incredible support, to our offsite team members in Denver and Lake Mary who participated in the prize giveaway, and to all D-Riskers who supported our fundraising efforts,” Luis said.
Many teams and departments supported the cause in various ways. To make the prize giveaway a success, the Procurement team secured outstanding prizes, the Facilities team donated two toolkits and the company donated two 50” TVs. Lastly, the “Rockin’ the Cure” concert could not have happened without the tremendous efforts of Victor Roddy.
More than 40 D-Riskers signed up to either attend or ride at the Orlando Tour de Cure on Sunday, March 16. Attendees enjoyed free breakfast, opening ceremonies, beautiful bike routes, and music and entertainment.
“It was a very well organized event with a great course for a great cause, but those 25mph headwinds sure do make your hair stand up!” said Dean Budney, Team Digital Risk rider and Leadership Development Manager.
Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events held in 44 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association, a non-profit that funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective and credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.
